How to sync the remote control
This article explains how to sync (pair) the handheld remote with the container’s control system.
Applicable to: Expandable Container 25 ft (EA765) and 30 ft (EA915)
Some older Expandable containers use a handheld remote control to operate the expansion system. These units differ from the newer generation containers, which have a built-in control panel mounted on the container itself.
Important:
- This procedure applies only to older-generation Expandable containers.
- Specifically for:
- Expandable Container 25 ft (EA765)
- Expandable Container 30 ft (EA915)
- Thise units may also be referred to as "pods", although container is the official product name.
Identifying the Correct System
Older Generation – Handheld Remote
- Separate yellow remote control
- Buttons numbered 1–12
- Has START and STOP buttons
- Communicates wirelessly with the control box
Use the instructions in this article if your system looks like this.
New Generation – Built-in Control Panel
- Fixed control panel mounted on the container
- Multiple colored directional buttons
- No separate handheld remote
If your container has this panel, the instructions below do not apply.
When Do You Need to Sync the Remote?
You may need to sync the remote if:
- The remote no longer controls the container
- A replacement remote is used
- The control system was reset or replaced
Step-by-Step: Syncing the Remote
Step 1 — Disconnect the Main Controller
Locate the main control box connected to the container.
- Unplug the main controller from the container.
Step 2 — Enter Pairing Mode
- Press and hold the "Enable" button on the main controller.
- While holding the button, plug the controller back in.
- Release the Enable button.
The controller should now start blinking, indicating it is in pairing mode.
Step 3 — Pair the Remote
1. Take the handheld remote.
2. Press the following buttons simultaneously:
- START
- Button 1
- Button 2
- Button 3
3. Press these four buttons at the same time repeatedly.
Continue pressing until the main controller stops blinking.
What Happens Next
- If the controller stops blinking, the remote is paired successfully.
- If it keeps blinking and then stops, the pairing window may have timed out. In that case, repeat the process.
Important Notes About Remote Batteries
Remote pairing may fail if the batteries are weak.
Recommendations:
- Use new standard alkaline batteries
- Do not use rechargeable batteries
Rechargeable batteries frequently do not provide stable voltage, which can cause unreliable operation.
Still Not Working?
If the remote still does not sync:
- Replace the batteries with new alkaline batteries.
- Repeat the pairing process from Step 1.
- If the issue persists, contact Expandable support with the container serial number and controller details.
